Stop-Start-More-Less Grid

Why Use It

The only thing that each of us has complete control over is our state-of-mind. We choose how we view life’s situations. Viewing life positively creates thinking that is different than a negative state-of-mind. A positive mental state prompts thinking for finding good. A negative mental state prompts pessimistic thinking for finding the bad in situations.

How to Use It

You owe it to yourself to develop and maintain a Positive Mental Attitude in order to get from life everything that you desire. You determine your attitude by training your brain to respond to circumstances either positively or negatively.

Use this grid to help you increase the positives and decrease the negatives in your work/life.

Step

Action

1

List all the “negative” situations you are encountering in your life and record them in the Do Less Quadrant.

2

List all the “positive” situations you are encountering in your life and record them in the Do More Quadrant.

3

Look at the Do Less quadrant and decide if you could stop anything. If yes, move it to the Stop quadrant.

4

List things you are currently not doing but would like to do and record them in the Start quadrant.

5

Now look at your entire grid and determine what items that you have control over.  Decide on ways you can:

·      Stop or Do Less of the negatives.

·      Start or Do More of the positives.
